George Marques

As Redfern Legal's Head of Corporate, George specialises in advising companies, directors, managers and shareholders on various aspects of corporate, commercial and intellectual property law.
George is a dual qualified senior solicitor who trained with Borden & Elliot (now BLG LLP) in Toronto, Canada. He has worked as an IP licensing and corporate transactions lawyer in private practice and as inhouse counsel in Canada and the United Kingdom. His prior experience as a product/project manager and business co-founder in Canada, Spain, Portugal, Brazil and the UK brings valuable perspective and insight to clients in need of creative solutions to complex business challenges.
The corporate practice spans share/asset acquisitions/disposals, international joint ventures, corporate governance, equity fundraising and securing SEIS/EIS approvals, debt/convertible finance, share incentive schemes and share capital re-organisations/buyouts and liquidations.
George’s intellectual property law experience spans software/technology licensing, patent copyright & trademark applications/registrations, prior-art searches and patentability issues, business/trademark/domain name conflicts, confidentiality and non-disclosure arrangements. He also advises on a variety of commercial matters including procurement, supply, outsourcing, distribution, title retention/factoring arrangements and IP licensing.
George speaks fluent Spanish, Catalan, Portuguese and conversational French.
